Welcome summer, and the official launch of Love Grows!
Cancer claims the lives of 1 in 4 dogs, and cancer changed the course of my life when it claimed the life of my dog Cain. He was my best friend & four legged soul mate, and losing him was devastating. When I hugged him for the last time I made a promise that I would do all that I could to help find a cure for canine cancer. It’s been an emotional journey, full of ups and downs, and sweet memories that guide my way. For that reason, Love Grows is very close to my heart.
I’ve participated with the Love Adds Up at many wonderful walks around the country to help raise funds for canine cancer, and spent a lot of time thinking of other ways to raise money that would be a bit different. I spent way too much time thinking! Sometimes we look too hard to find the answers, when quite often the answers lie just beneath our nose.
Inspired by a dream that I had, Love Grows was the answer that I kept buried in my heart, and if you like flowers, OR know someone who likes flowers, then you’re really going to like Love Grows! It consists of a handmade paper heart that you can write a loving thought or message on. The heart is infused with seeds that bloom into wildflowers when planted. What’s really great is the seeds are a mix of annuals as well as perennials, which means that each year your beautiful message will come back to remind you of the love that you planted.
The net proceeds from Love Grows benefit canine cancer research and treatment, and non-profits that provide funding for families who cannot afford oncology treatment for their pets that have been diagnosed with cancer. A portion of the proceeds will also be used to establish a designated fund for canine cancer research in memory of Cain.
