Last Saturday my mom and Eddie went to an event for the Longmont Humane Society (LHS). They had two agendas for the day…to support LHS, and also to see Phoebe. My mom fell in love with Phoebe (Phoebs as she calls her) instantly on the day she was brought to a shelter in November 2011. Phoebe spent nearly a year at that shelter, before they determined she wasn’t a good candidate for adoption, but my mom knew better, and wouldn’t have it! She had spent so much time with Phoebe, often times bringing her to our house to play in the backyard, or taking her on hikes and for ice cream. My mom knew in her heart that Phoebe was a great girl, deserving of a loving home, and she was able to get her out of the shelter, and placed with a wonderful lady, who also fell in love with her.
In February of this year, unfortunate circumstances brought Phoebe back to a shelter, this time though it was LHS. My mom was sad when she found out, but LHS has an awesome reputation for finding wonderful homes for pit bulls so she knew that this shelter was one of the best places Phoebe could be. She also has a very great friend named Patty who, just like my mom and the wonderful lady, fell in love with Phoebe. (hard not to!) Patty spent lots and lots of time with Phoebe, and also attended training classes with her which are offered at LHS. Phoebe was a star student, and we just knew that there was a family out there for her. Which brings me back to the tutu….
I sent along one of my favorite tutus for Phoebe to wear at the event. I wished with all of my heart that it’s powerful magic would help find her a loving, forever home, and I bid it a fond farewell as my mom and Eddie left our house to make the hour long trip to the event. When they got there, my mom lovingly placed the tutu around Phoebe’s neck and passed along the magic. She was so beautiful, and my mom and Patty decided that the tutu should stay with Phoebe until the day she found a loving home. When it came time for them to leave, my mom gave Phoebe a kiss and a hug, and as she walked away she took one last look over her shoulder. Their eyes locked and she whispered softly to the beautiful girl who had stolen her heart on that November day years ago, “So long for now Phoebs, I’ll see you next time.”
Well, that was one week ago today, but guess what?!! There will be no “next time!”
There are HaPpY tears flowing around here because the family that Phoebe has been waiting for finally came today!! A mom and her three boys whose lives just got a whole lot brighter. A family who will never know anything but LOVE,LOVE, LOVE! For my mom’s dear, sweet Phoebe she finally has the loving family she has been waiting for, for so long. My mom’s emotions are running high. Much love to you Phoebs. Our world is so much brighter because you were a part of it, and we thank you for sharing your love…let it shine on beautiful girl!!
Let’s hear it for everyone who made this happen AND for the POWER OF THE TUTU!! xoxo ~Zo
