Pssst…I’ve got a secret! Actually I’ve got plenty of secrets, but this one I’m going to share. There’s a little known fact about my assistant, but I don’t suppose she’ll be too upset with me for sharing since I know many of you can relate to missing a loved one too.
It’s been nearly 5 years since she lost her Cain to cancer, but every morning she still whispers a soft good morning to him as she walks the path to our barn to feed the horses. It was a morning time ritual that they shared together, and he never missed a day. She says there’s something very special about those quiet moments before the rest of the world comes alive, and she feels a peaceful connection that’s not so easy to explain. With that whispered good morning, she always blows a kiss to the last lone star in the sky, still shimmering as the night gives way to day. This morning the sky was a bit hazy, and the star lay hidden from view, but something else very extraordinary happened after the horses were fed and she and Eddie were behind our barn beginning a walk along the trail.
It began with a bright ray of light shooting upwards from Lookout Mountain, almost like a fireball. She stood and gazed for a moment as the brightness intensified, and as they walked a bit further, a beautiful ray of color began to form. It was the beginning of a rainbow, it’s vivid color shining magnificently. A portion of the trail is canopied by trees, and she was certain that the rainbow would disappear within the 10 minutes it was going to take to get to the clearing. But as they rounded the curve in the trail and broke free from the trees, they came upon the other end of the rainbow. She snapped another photo and while the picture doesn’t do it justice, off in the distance where it appeared to hit the ground, there was an explosion of light that perfectly matched the first ray of light that she had seen shooting to the sky from Lookout Mountain!
A soft rain began to fall, and the ray of color faded, but not before reminding her how beautiful each moment is, and just how much love carries on. Have a fa*bull*ous day.
