Tuesday’s Tip: The Benefits of Goat’s Milk For Your Pet

blueskies.jpgGot milk? Goat’s milk that is! One of things the pack and I are treated to every day is goat’s milk.

The consumption of raw goat’s milk dates back thousands of years and is attributed to many health benefits. Raw goat’s milk is a natural probiotic and delivers live, active probiotics, prebiotics, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, trace elements, enzymes, protein, and fatty acids to support intestinal health. Because it has fat molecules one-fifth the size of those in cow’s milk, it is easily digestible and tolerable for pets with compromised digestive systems.

Frozen raw goat’s milk or dehydrated goat’s milk can be found at most pet retailers that specialize in healthy foods for pets. The frozen brands will need to thaw before serving, and will last in your refrigerator for about 10-12 days. The dehydrated, on the other paw, comes packaged and contains 16 individual .5 oz pouches, (which will make 16 cups of goat’s milk) and will last for several months until opened and hydrated. They’re great for when you’re traveling too!

Whether you include goat’s milk as a supplement to your pet’s meals, or simply as a delicious drink, it’s an easy way to hydrate, deliver nutrition, and support intestinal health. ~Zo
