Summer Safety Tips

Happy 4th of July!

We’ve all been told, and some of us know first hand, how stressful 4th of July celebrations can be for our furry friends. The day after the holiday is one of the busiest for shelters as so many dogs, terrified by the noise of fireworks, run away from home and get lost. Some make their way into shelters, where hopefully they will be reunited with their families, while sadly there are many that are killed in holiday traffic.

There is a lot of information available on how to minimize stress for your pets during the holiday festivities, but I also want to pass along this article from the ASPCA which highlights other safety tips that can be used throughout the summer months.

Here’s to a happy holiday, and safe summer for you and your pet!
