Pleasure is very seldom found where it is sought. Our brightest blazes are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks.” -Samuel Johnson
Yesterday I spent some time outside enjoying the warmth of a beautiful spring day. As I walked across the grass, I absentmindedly kicked the basketball that had been resting all winter. At that moment the chimes let out a soft “ping”, which caught my attention. Despite strong winds for the past few days, they had been silent, and upon examining them, I noticed they were wound together tightly, twisted and knotted from the windy abuse they had been taking. I untwisted the gnarled mess, expecting them to sing their song, only to be met with silence.
It was one of those moments that makes you shrug your shoulders and brush away any doubts you might have. For me that soft “ping” was a sign from Cain that it’s time to play ball, and even though March madness is over, I’ve still got a basketball jones!
